Because we all deserve a bit of pampering without having to worry about the cost…
Wouldn’t it be fantastic to have endless pots of money (and free time) to pop off on a retreat whenever the kiddos get too much? The reality is so much more different isn’t it? Between overspending on baby’s first shoes and clothes for the ever-growing teen, there’s not much left in the wallet for personal beauty splurges. Or so you might think…
We’ve been subjecting our faces and bods to the affordable spas in and around Singapore that won’t leave a gaping hole in your bank account. Nor will it send you on a major mum guilt trip. Presenting… the spa spots that we can ALL afford. Because, as hard working mums we really do deserve some pampering – and not just on special occasions!
Le Petit Spa
Located minutes from Orchard Road (pampering and shopping opportunity all in one hit), Le Petit Spa is an urban retreat that ticks all the boxes for affordable spa decadence. We’re talking rejuvenating Dermalogica facials, stress-busting massages, fat-freezing treatments (love handles, be gone) and heavenly reflexology sessions. Body scrubs are going at $90 per session and a massage starts at $110 for 60 minutes. With those kind of prices, you’ll absolutely find a treatment perfect for you, your budget and your schedule here. And let’s just pop this hear… There’s a kids’ room decked out with toys, TV and an in-house carer so that your petite darling is kept safe and happy while your bod gets a much needed overhaul.

My Cozy Room
It would be an understatement to say that motherhood plays havoc with our skin. In fact, pregnancy doesn’t do it many favours either! Thankfully, we’ve discovered My Cozy Room, a gorgeous little sanctuary near Orchard Road, where magic products from Germany’s number one professional skincare range, BABOR, are used to fight wrinkles, dry skin and hormonal acne. Pamper heaven right there. Expect skin to look and feel smoother and firmer after just one session in the hands of the talented and friendly staff. Customised facials start at just $88!

Le Spa
When the kids have finally quit bouncing off the walls and have fallen into a slumber, reward yourself with an hour or two of pure spa heaven at Le Spa. Not only is this lovely sanctuary open 24-hours, but it also has a full list of great treatments including massage, scrubs, cupping and detox treatments. A 45-minute body massage will only set you back $35, we kid you not!

Rule of Thumb
Instead of letting the small beasties put you under their thumbs, take yourself to Rule of Thumb for wonderful 60-minute massages at pocket-friendly prices (they start from just $55 a pop). They also have treatments for ovary and kidney care, which is essentially traditional cupping methods that help to eliminate toxins and improve blood flow. By the way, the outlet at Kampong Glam is perfect for a post pampering hot dinner date with your other half.
Rule of Thumb, #01-01, 289 Beach Road, Singapore 199552; www.ruleofthumb.sg
Indulgence Beauty
Best to clear your diaries for this one, ladies. Indulgence Beauty facials are decadent, but also looong, so don’t get caught on the hop when you lose all sense of time and miss the kid’s school run! We tried and tested it on your behalf (we take our research very seriously), and absolutely loved the Hyaluronic Hyalogy Treatment Facial with LPG Endermolift Facial, which uses science to plump up weary skin. Costs are low compared to some of the all-singing, all-dancing fancier spa options, so this one is easy on the skin and the purse.

SG Face
SG Face is on of our favourite hideouts for wallet-friendly facials in the Holland Village ‘hood. Treatments are perfect for tired-mum-faces (read: clogged pores and flagging skin), and salon staff use gentle, but skilful methods to turn back time and get your skin looking less tired and more glowy. Try the Deep Cleansing Facial ($58 for 60 mins for first-timers) for when your skin really needs a treat.

Tempat Senang, Batam
Having heard many a tale of a boutique spa in Batam that provides unbeatable treatments, top notch food and a free pick up service from the ferry terminal, we finally made it over to Tempat Senang to see what all the fuss was about. We plumped for the six-hour full day spa session, which included two massages, a hair spa, facial, body scrub and pedicure, all for the grand total of SG$150 (including lunch!). The verdict? This place may well be the most awesome day out for mums EVER. Also: coconut martinis… say no more.
