Fancy a fun challenge that will encourage your kids to read as much as possible? We present our very first HoneyKids Readathon for your little bookworms!
Looking for ways to motivate your child to read more books? We’re here to help! In support of the National Reading Movement, we’ve teamed up with the National Library Board (NLB) for the very first HoneyKids x NLB Readathon 2017. Participating is easy and completely free with book selections from our very own local libraries!
In the hope of getting kids to expand their reading repertoire and gain exposure to different genres of books, we’ve come up with lists of books that you can borrow from the libraries and on the NLB Mobile app. We’ve popped these into fun printable lists (downloadable below for free) so your kids can tick off books as they go. Lists are divided into three age groups: toddlers and pre-schoolers (up to age five), elementary school kids (aged six to nine), and tweens (aged 10-13).
We’ve also indicated the titles available as physical copies in libraries as well as eBooks on the NLB Mobile app. The NLB Mobile app is available for download on either the App Store or Google Play Store. Of course, it’s entirely up to you to decide if the books are appropriate for your little one, and to track your child’s progress and involvement with the reading lists.
Do keep a lookout on our social media channels – we’ll be posting more book suggestions and handy reading tips. If your kid is really into a book, share the love! Simply post an Instagram shot of him or her reading with a quick review of the book (even a thumbs up will do!), and include the hashtags #HoneyKidsReadathon, #readingnationsg and #whatareyoureadingsg. We’ll be on the lookout for the best pics/reviews and reposting them on our Instagram page. Happy reading!
