Nurturing bright young minds is something that GESS – International School does well. With its Centre for Excellence, it’s able to create opportunities for talented and high-potential students. It’s an advantage for students to excel in their areas of talent, spanning across sciences, engineering, technology, mathematics, arts, sports, music and more. Here’s what else we’ve learned about this dedicated program for high-achievers…
Lots of opportunities for excellence
Two years on, the GESS Excellence programme has opened many avenues for talented students to explore their interests and talents. Currently, there are 40 opportunities on top of students’ regular curriculum for high-potential students. Some of these include the Science Centre’s Young Scientists Program and International Junior Science Olympiad, where students get teacher-mentors for guidance and inspiration.
Useful connections
Through the program, GESS students get to network and learn from industry professionals and experts regularly. They get to attend talks from professors from the world-renowned Technical University of Munich, industry experts from Volocopter and even the former Ambassador to New Zealand. There’s no doubt that this knowledge gives them an educational edge and cultivates their interests as they see what the future has in store for them.
Your young techies will love the Junior Engineer Academy!
Young innovators and future engineers will love the Junior Engineer Academy, which is also part of the Excellence program and is the first of its kind outside of Europe. Starting as early as Grade 8 and 9, students will get access to the pool of engineering knowledge in Europe and kickstart a future in the field. This program will arm them with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the world of engineering and learn directly from industry experts.
We hear that the current enrolled students are working on constructing a fully liveable tiny house on campus, plus drone taxis and even upcycling computers! Pretty cool stuff, we say!
