Father’s Day in Singapore: cool things to do with dad and the kids

Whether dad is a bit of an adventurer, a crafter, an animal lover or a couch potato, we've got fun ideas for days out for all kinds of dads...

Father’s Day is just around the corner so it’s time to start thinking about the cool places for dad to hang out with the family. We think we’ve found THE 10 places that will keep dad AND the kiddos busy and happy together on Father’s Day 2018…

Master Barber, Joel, will have dad feeling spiffy in no time at Jermyn Street

1. For the dandy dad
Send your tweens and teens on a date with dad to barber shop extraordinaire, Jermyn Street, where haircuts, tonsorial art (yes, we had to look that up) and male grooming are the name of the game.

2. For the surf dude dad
Ride the waves and perfect your surf skills at action-packed Wave House on Sentosa (pictured top). A barrel of laughs for the whole family (especially when dad falls off).

3. For the dad who loves the great outdoors
Check out our cool guide to the best parks and islands around Singapore and make a date with dad and nature this Father’s Day. We have a huge soft spot for Pulau Ubin ourselves – it’s one of the best places to spot some of Singapore’s wildest residents! Don’t forget to pack a picnic full of dad’s fave treats!

4. For the dad who likes a challenge
Putting the kids’ brain into gear is always high on our agenda, and we think your mini-escapologists and their dad will love flexing their best Houdini skills and conquering an Escape Room.

5. For the dad who wants to cool off at the pool
We use the word pool loosely for this one though: thrills ‘n’ spills of a soggy nature are what’s on the menu over at family-fave Wild Wild Wet. This place has been given a BIG overhaul, so expect more wild ‘n’ wet fun than ever. For an extra dash of dad fun, make a staycay of it at D’Resort!

6. For the dad who loves tinkering
We can’t get enough of the new Playeum exhibit: Going Play-Ces: A Wanderful Exploration of New Lands, and we know that dad will love it too. With a huge maker space jam-packed with craft materials including old cassette tapes, retro phones and toilet rolls galore, the whole family will love tinkering and creating the day away. Robot-making competition anyone?

7. For the dad who fancies himself a fisherman
Whether dad is a novice fisherman, or a bonafide Jaws-catching veteran, an organised fishing trip with My Garry Fisher sounds right up dad’s river for a Father’s Day catch-of-the-day.

8. For the dad who likes to scale lofty heights
We recently tackled the 19 themed walls atindoor climbing centre, Clip ‘n’ Climb, where our little spideys had a blast. Challenge dad to a series of walls ranging from easy peasy to tricky trickster and see who scrambles up to the top first and fastest (our money is on the kids). There’s laser quest next door too, for an extra dose of challenge.

9. For the dad who fancies a spot of kidulting
The Luge! We’re sure dad will be happy to engage in a bit of family rivalry trying out two brand new Skyline Luge trails. Take on the challenge of the tried and tested Jungle and Dragon Trails, before releasing your inner speed demons racing down the new Expedition Trail and Kupu Kupu Trail. There’s also a second Skyride chairlift that’s just been completed, perfect for getting back up to the starting line double quick!

10. For the dad who just wants to sit back and relax
All that Father’s Day fare may have worn dad out to point of being able to do nothing more than sit with his fit up with a glass of beer. Treat dad to a Gold Class cinema ticket – there are lots of great family blockbusters hitting the silver screen right now!
