Raising a young eco-warrior just got easier (and more fun) thanks to this year’s DBS Marina Regatta...
Being a parent is tough, and one of our biggest worries? The fact that it’s up to us to share the news with our kids that the planet they’ve grown up on (and will pass on to their own children) is a little less green and a little less healthy than the one we loved running around on when we were little. That’s why it’s become more important than ever to encourage our kids to take action and make a stand when it comes to leading a more eco-friendly life.
But how do we start? Well, for starters by letting our kids be kids, play outdoors, and get some fresh air, just like we did back in the day. And we’ve got just the event for that: get ready for the DBS Marina Regatta 2019 at The Promontory @ Marina Bay happening from 31st May till 2nd June 2019. From an eco-maze to old school carnival games, cool workshops and exciting Dragon Boat races, there’re heaps of eco-fun to be had for the whole fam!
Conquer Singapore’s largest eco-maze
Here’s an adventure your kids won’t forget: race against time as you navigate your way through Singapore’s largest eco-maze. And while you’re busy finding your way, there’s also the chance to ace adventure-packed obstacles that have been designed to challenge your knowledge about recycling and the environment. But be quick, folks: if you conquer 7 or more challenges in 12 minutes, you’ll receive a bonus gift pack!
(Min 1.2m tall to participate. Participants below the age of 12 are advised to be accompanied by an adult at all times in the maze.)
Price: FREE, sign-up here to participate. All participants receive a tote bag and a reusable water bottle.
Get eco-arts and crafty at a workshop
Back before computer games and smart phones existed, our parents had to come up with heaps of activities to keep us busy. And if you’re always looking for opportunities to get creative (sans the mess), here’s your chance. At the DBS Marina Regatta 2019, there’ll be plenty of crafty fun for little ones where they can learn about the environment and get their Picasso on. From composting to pouch-making, and even the chance to create art from old cassette tapes, the kids will be in eco-friendly, arty heaven for sure. Learn more about the workshops here.
When: 1-2 June
Price: $20 per person. All participants receive a tote bag, a reusable water bottle and a pair of all-access passes to National Gallery Singapore.
Cheer your fave dragon boat team on!
Everyone remembers the thrill of being part of the crowd at their first live sports event as a kid. Now here’s your chance to relive that exciting moment with your own kids! Show your support for your fave dragon boat team in one of the most highly-anticipated dragon boat competitions in the region. There’ll be over 90 teams and over 3000 paddlers battling it out for the largest prize money Asia has ever seen for such an event. Pretty exhilarating stuff!
When: 1-2 June
Get your grub on at The Grubhouse
Nothing beats capping off an uber fun day than winding down with a nom-worthy meal. Our tip? Head over to The Grubhouse for affordable delish bites (nothing above $10!). Whether you’re hankering after some classic hawker fare or need a sweet treat, you’ll be spoilt for choice at this fam-friendly pick. And if it’s a burger you’re craving, then we highly recommend you head over to Wolf Burgers and try out the sustainable meat alternative Impossible Burger – so much yum!
We can’t wait for the DBS Marina Regatta 2019! See you and the fam there, people!
