Mother’s Day 2018 – Buffets, high teas and brunches to book NOW

Take note kids and dads – Champagne, an endless menu of fine food and someone to take care of the washing up are exactly what we fancy this Mother’s Day…

Mother’s Day is coming up fast (THIS Sunday, ladies), and while we think the kids and their dads have got it all sussed out when it comes to where we want to go for a fancy feast, it never hurts to give them a little nudge in the right direction. And since we like to eat delicious food that’s not cooked by ourselves, here are the Mother’s Day buffets, brunches and high teas that we would LOVE to be treated to. We’re also good with a lovely lie in, are well on board with a bunch of beautiful blooms and are rather partial to homemade macaroni necklaces that we can wear for the occasion. Just sayin’.

The Courtyard, Fullerton Hotel
Afternoon tea and Mother’s Day go hand-in-hand, and one of our long standing faves is the three-tiered delights of cakes, sandwiches and freshly-baked goodies at The Courtyard. Wash it all down with your choice of tea, or ramp up the treats with a glass or two of wine or bubbles. Don’t forget to enter the Lucky Draw – you could end up walking away with a staycay, a luxe bag or a 90-minute Asian Heritage Signature treatment at the spa.
When: 12-13 May, 2pm-4pm or 4.30pm-6.30pm.
Cost: $100 nett for two adults with free-flowing premium coffee and teas. Additional sets are priced at $50++ per adult, $25++ per child (age six to 11 years), $60++ per adult with a glass of wine or $70++ per adult with a glass of champagne.
The Courtyard at The Fullerton Hotel, 1 Fullerton Square, Singapore 049178

This one is not happening on Mother’s Day itself, but if you could use some old-fashioned glamour in your life, then an elegant Afternoon Tea at ATLAS might just be what you need. Leave the kiddos at home for this one so you and the hubs can cuddle on one of the spacious sofas as you enjoy a high-tea set served in a two-tiered rose gold stand. Take in the elegant European decor as you sip on your choice of tea – there are 19 to choose from. Then snack away on decadent homemade bites, such as crab croquettes and croque monsieur made with premium Italian prosciutto cotto. When it came to the sweets, our favourites include the French-style scones served with whipped mascarpone cream and homemade strawberry jam, and the hazelnut crémeux – a frozen hazelnut chocolate mousse, coated in dark chocolate with a base made of crunchy feuilletine. We loved the Apple Tree as a palate cleanser. It’s literally a green apple rolled to resemble a Christmas tree, stuffed with fresh mint and decorated with dots of pineapple and strawberry gels. Oh, and leave some space for the ice cream pops at the end. We’re still thinking about the coconut oreo one…
When: Monday to Saturday, 3pm-5pm
Cost: $52 (ATLAS Selection) or $56 (Prestige Selection)
ATLAS, Parkview Square, 600 North Bridge Road, 188778
