Christmas is the season of giving, and we never need much persuasion to go on a bit of a shopping splurge (we see it as doing our bit for the economy, and we’re sticking with that excuse reason should the husband ask). But the festive markets, pop-ups and fairs really have us doing a happy little jig, and there’s tons happening all around Singapore. From charitable causes to European-style Xmas markets we don’t have to jet overseas for, there’s a festive fair for all when it comes to Christmas shopping on the Little Red Dot…

Christmas Pop-up Fair
Sleigh-ride over to a Christmas Pop-up Fair where you’ll bag adorable knick-knacks, arts, crafts, jewellery and more. We can’t wait to check out the Christmas bric-a-brac at participating stalls!

Netherlands Charity Association (NCA) Christmas Fair
Love the idea of gift-giving for a good cause? Get into the Christmas spirit over at the NCA Charity Christmas Fair, where you will find hand-crafted goodies, home-baked yummies and cool prezzies that make the perfect stocking fillers for your nearest and dearest. Proceeds will go towards supporting local charities, which we think gives us all the green light to go a little bit spend-crazy! Hum along to traditional Christmas carols performed by HOME, the organisation that helps migrant workers out of tough situations here in Singapore, while picking up some meaningful gifts.

Christmas Bazaar at the Danish Seamen’s Church
Bring your family and friends to enjoy the spirit of a traditional Danish Christmas while you shop for handmade advent wreaths, Christmas decorations and unique Danish designed gifts all for a $2 admission fee.

Christmas Wonderland European Market
Those of us not lucky enough to be jetting away on holiday for Christmas were feeling resigned to just dreaming of visiting the fabulous traditional Christmas markets in Europe for our mulled wine and hog roast fix. Which is why it was merry news to our ears to learn that there is a European-style festive market popping up at the Christmas Wonderland event at Gardens by the Bay. Hurrah: our wishes have come true! Expect all the traditional trimmings being served up from wooden huts designed to trick us into thinking we really are in Germany!

Christmas Farmers Market at Loewen Gardens
Whatever you do don’t miss the festive Christmas Farmers Market at Loewen Gardens. Not only will you be tempted to fill your stockings with goodies from vendors selling fresh foods including organic veggies, cheeses, wines and Xmas gifts, but there is also plenty of cool Yule entertainment for the kids too.

WKND FOLKS Christmas Pop Up Market
WKND FOLKS is launching a Christmas Pop Up Market at Buzz in the Woods where not only are the kids welcome, but your fur kids are welcome too! Yep, bring along the family dog (dress them up in their Xmas finest for a chance to win a prize) and shop curated booths, listen to acoustic music, and throw the children on a bouncy castle (once they’re done with the body painting and temporary tattoos). A gift wrapping station seals the deal.

The Yard’s Urban Circus Christmas Festival
With so many great Christmas fairs and markets to choose from, you may be feeling spoilt for choice. We love that The Yard’s Urban Circus Christmas Festival is offering up something a little bit different this holiday market season: expect an acrobatic spectacle featuring high performance gymnastics, trampolining and parkour displays in its Olympic facility! It’s also filling the space with boutique vendors so you can work through that Xmas gift list!

Quayside Christmas Festival
A pop-up market, giant lawn games, live music, magicians and even a pizza acrobat are what you’ll find at the first ever Quayside Christmas Festival over in the Robertson Quay area for a family-friendly market you can all shop at.

Christmas Glamour at The Fullerton
There’s a lot of Christmas magic happening over at the lower lobby of The Fullerton Hotel Ballroom where The Christmas Glamour at The Fullerton event will be jam-packed with unique and stylish products. Pick up home decor, fashion, accessories, arts, crafts, stationery and even food from home-grown brands selling quality products. Charity organisation, Caring for Cambodia, will also be there, so seize the chance to do some extra good this festive season, and help towards its goals of providing a better education for young Cambodians.

Public Garden Christmas
If you’re into independent, local design, and handmade goodies this is one of the best markets for picking up unique gifts from fashion to homewares and cool stuff for kids. Think terrariums, concrete planters and marble trays, fashion by local designers, unique stationery, handmade ceramics and jewellery. Public Garden hosts several markets throughout the year, but the Xmas event, which draws independent brands from around Asia, is particularly good. You WILL end up shopping for yourself!

The First Sustainable Christmas Market
The First Sustainable Christmas Market advocates sustainability and aims to promote ethical products, edible produce and craft by local start-ups. You’ll find 23 vendors including Green Spade, Cerana Honey, Farm to Market and Hangmade by Gladys offering festive food and gifts, as well as some cool activities for the whole family: yoga, belly dancing, balloon sculpting, face painting and a paella cooking class are just a few of the fun things happening.

Santa’s Workshop at The South Pole: 15 December
With the help of The Local People. South Beach Avenue will transform into one massive Christmas party (as well as a market!) for one jolly-good day! Santa’s Workshop @ the South Pole will offer food, arts and crafts and a slew of adorable knick-knacks to fill those stockings. There’ll also be live music to keep you entertained while you shop, festive workshops and DIY customised gift wrapping paper.

Gifting Edition of Boutique Fairs
The annual Gifting Edition of Boutique Fairs is back for three full days of shopping, shopping and more shopping. Stock up on all things Xmas from over 200 vendors selling everything festive imaginable under the sun. Fashion, food, home, decor, art, toys – you name it, you’ll find it! Kids not loving being dragged around for a serious shopping fest? The dedicated play area with games, face painting, storytelling and more will ease their (and your) burden…

Affordable Art Fair
If you are looking to buy the hubby (or yourself) something a bit more special than a pair of socks or a hankie this year, then head over to one of our favourite fairs of the year: the Affordable Art Fair. The festive affair brings together around 65 international and local galleries and you’ll be able to snap up wallet-friendly contemporary art starting from $100. Got a bigger budget to blow? Price tags on paintings, sculptures and prints range up to $15,000.
