Christmas is the season of giving, and we never need much persuasion to go on a bit of a shopping splurge (we see it as doing our bit for the economy, and we’re sticking with that excuse reason should the husband ask). But the festive markets, pop-ups and fairs really have us doing a happy little jig, and there’s tons happening all around Singapore. From charitable causes to European-style Xmas markets we don’t have to jet overseas for, there’s a festive fair for all when it comes to Christmas shopping on the Little Red Dot…

Cluny Court Christmas Fair

Heading into its four edition, the Cluny Court Christmas Fair’s set to be a family winner when it comes to Xmas market picks this year. You’ll not only pick up sleigh-loads of toys, tableware, Xmas munchies, Christmas trees and festive decor, but Santa will be hanging out there too for meet-and-greet opps.

Christmas Wonderland European Market

Those of us not lucky enough to be jetting away on holiday for Christmas were feeling resigned to just dreaming of visiting the fabulous traditional Christmas markets in Europe for our mulled wine and hog roast fix. Which is why it was merry news to our ears to learn that there is a European-style festive market popping up at the Christmas Wonderland event at Gardens by the Bay. Hurrah: our wishes have come true! Expect all the traditional trimmings being served up from wooden huts designed to trick us into thinking we really are in Germany!

Public Garden Christmas

If you’re into independent, local design, and handmade goodies this is one of the best markets for picking up unique gifts from fashion to homewares and cool stuff for kids. Think terrariums, concrete planters and marble trays, fashion by local designers, unique stationery, handmade ceramics and jewellery. Public Garden hosts several markets throughout the year, but the Xmas event, which draws independent brands from around Asia, is particularly good. You WILL end up shopping for yourself!

A Green Christmas Popup

All vendors at this feel-good market will be setting some proceeds aside for selected charities and non-profit organisations, so we say come along and find a great gift amongst some super cool sellers while while learning more about local crafts, sustainability projects, all while tucking into authentic Swedish cuisine.

Sustainable Christmas Fair

The Expat Fairs and Winestone are hosting 2018’s Sustainable Christmas Fair where you’ll find plenty of awesome goods and services, all which advocate sustainability and environmentally-responsible holiday season shopping. Fill your bags with fair-trade organic goodies, edible yums, statement fashion (mostly made by artisans) and heaps of eco-friendly home decor. There will also be a side-order of family activities happening, including teaching kids to grow a garden and cooking with the harvest.

A Jolly Holiday Christmas Fair

If you’re on the west side of our fair isle, pop by to the Christmas fair at the Canadian International School for truckloads of jewellery, bags, home decor, homemade crafts and plenty more. The kids won’t mind shopping this one either with a slew of games, crafts, a photo booth and activities for the little ones happening.

Wildseed Festive Market

If you’re on a search for artisan and locally-made gifts, knick-knacks and special prezzies, head on over to the third edition of Wildseed’s Festive Market. There’ll also be plenty to keep the kiddos busy with fun workshops including terrarium building, gem soap crafting and clay jamming.

Christmas Farmers Market at Loewen Gardens

Whatever you do don’t miss the festive Christmas Farmers Market at Loewen Gardens. Not only will you be tempted to fill your stockings with goodies from vendors selling fresh foods including organic veggies, cheeses, wines and Xmas gifts, but there is also plenty of cool Yule entertainment for the kids too.

Barkin Brew

Fur-babies can get festive too thanks to the Barkin Brew special Xmas market. Bring the whole fam, including the dog, and then shop, drink, mingle and be merry safe in the knowledge that anything you spend will be going towards Singapore’s dog shelters. And if you have room in your heart and home for a hairy family member this Xmas, do drop by the adoption drive by Exclusively Mongrels Limited and F7-Friends of Seven to see if your fur-ever friend is there. We adopted our own Singapore Special earlier this year from Exclusively Mongrels, and can’t sing its praises loud enough.
