On at the Pit Building 25 & 26 April
Want to make life more beautiful? Mark your diary for 25 and 26 April for the first ever weekend edition of Boutiques at the Pit Building 2015. Our favourite fair in the Singapore shopping calendar is returning this year with over 120 handpicked purveyors of style. In addition to all the fashion, jewellery, & accessories for us (see our write up on Honeycombers) there is also a great selection of covetable kids fashion, toys and furniture that are hard to find elsewhere on the little red dot and all brought to you under one spacious designer roof.
So spacious in fact that kids can decorate their own 3D elephant with conservation group, Elephant Parade. Yes, this is a family event. So with the kids occupied, introduce your other half to the on-site barista and hangout lounge concept space, styled by Make Room and Originals, and prepare to shop. Oh yes, and make sure you’re in flats – this is over 3000 square metres of aesthetic-loving heaven.
If, like us, you’re a sucker for a stunner – pattern, colour or material that is – your head will be on a swivel, especially with so many labels showcasing their spring/summer collections (yes, for kids!). So to help you in your meanderings amongst the finest furny and fash for kids (Ni Night bespoke wrought iron bed in powder blue, Emma Laue playsuit and Lumley Locket musical ball, you’re on our list!), here’s a guide to take you to the kid’s vendors…and still have time left over to grab a mani by The Nail Social (who train and support local underpriviledged women), and wind up at the Drink Winebar afterwards
Best Pop Ups for Stylish Threads:
Stock up on designer duds to see your kids through an entire year all in one location. You’ll find delicate prints and bold designs at Little Friends By Lamasso, and floral playsuits just perfect for Singapore’s eternal summer at Emma Laue. Your little fashionistas will adore the Cheeky Chaz’s fun, bright apparel – our pick is the fabulous Saskia Kaftan.
For mod vintage clothes made entirely from 100% organic and ethically sourced fabric, don’t miss Mi Dulce An’ya. Inject a sense of coolness and softness into a warm summer afternoon with Chandamama’s easy breezy tops, dresses and pants in eyecatching dots and zigzag prints. You’ll be fighting off the hoardes to snap up Elly’s gorgeous onsie in signature Home fabric for SG50 babies. And big sister Twelve by Elly’s awesome range is guaranteed pique the interest of even the most jaded tween shopper.

Best Pop Ups for Looking (and staying) Chill by the Pool
As sun-conscious parents, we expect our little one’s beachwear to be not only style savvy but made from long lasting UV resistant material. Look no further than Frolik, the new kid on the swimwear block, with cosies and accessories as darn adorable as the name suggests. To kill two birds with one stone, pick up a father and son set (or two!) of on-trend Tom & Teddy boardies and rash top. And to finish off the look we’re loving the Poolzies anti-slip pool shoes – protecting tiny toes with catchy nautical design.
Best Pop Ups for Kids’ Toys and Gifts
Invest in the gorgeous one-of-a-kind hand knitted soft toys at Pebble and feel warm and fuzzy know you are supporting rural female artisans. We also fell head over heels for the awesome eco-cardboard Flatout Frankie flatpack toy range at The Children’s Showcase. Stay and read awhile at Epigram Books and you’ll walk out laden with loads of lovely children’s titles (as well as a cheeky novel or two for yourself).

Best Pop Ups for Kids Furniture and Lifestyle Wares
You’ll decide its high time for an upgrade once you spy Ni-Night ‘s new range of whimsical children’s beds, designed by Majella herself. We’re also envisioning our little one snuggling in for the night in some butter-soft bedding from gorgeous Feroza designs. And what better way to lull them off to sleep than to the classical melody from a Lumley Locket Mozartkugel (musical ball). Bedroom sorted! Now you’ve decked out the kids and sorted that home deco near-disaster, best pop in to the Littleone’s Photography to book in a shoot to capture all that fabulousness.
And That’s Not All Folks!
Think you’d be a more efficient shopping machine without the clinging kids? In addition to the Elephant Parade workshop, kids can join in the Artbox contest, and then take home the funky friend they’ve just made. You’ll probably find yourself stocking up on the Artboxes for your present drawer. A fab gift!
