ArtScience Museum has always been one of our top faves when it comes to kid-friendly attractions in Singapore. On top of being highly educational for the family, their super cool exhibitions are always fun and entertaining for the kids. That’s why we’re excited about all the awesome programmes they have lined up for the holiday season!
What’s on at ArtScience Museum this December
1. Future World: Where Art Meets Science
In conjunction with the festive season, the museum’s popular permanent exhibition, Future World will feature Sketch Christmas, an interactive installation specially designed for the season! Join the kids in drawing up Christmas, then sit back and watch their creations come to life alongside colourful sleighs and reindeers in an imaginative Christmas town.
Bonus: Sign the kids up for Mini Holiday Camp: Digital Art, where they will learn more about the basics of coding. The workshop will conclude with a facilitated tour to Future World: Where Art Meets Science. The camp comes with a facilitated tour of the exhibition, as well as a coding workshop for children. Tickets are priced $48 (includes one accompanying parent or guardian). Recommended for five years old and up.
When: Daily, 10am-7pm (exhibition); 16-17 December 2021, 10.15am-12.45pm at Rainbow Room, Basement 2 (Mini Holiday Camp: Digital Art).
2. Virtual Realms: Videogames Transformed
Be prepared to enter a realm of sonic landscapes and kaleidoscopic worlds at this exciting video game-themed exhibition. Virtual Realms is an immersive experience created by six world famous game developers and six leading media design studios. Needless to say, fans of video games will love this otherworldly exhibition!
Bonus: Virtual Realms also comes with a mini holiday camp for kids that includes a facilitated tour of the exhibition. After the tour, kids will join a workshop where they’ll be taught to transform their 2D drawings into actual video games. So if your kid is a big fan of video games, you’ll want to sign them up for Mini Holiday Camp: Ready, Get Set, Play! Tickets are priced $48 (includes one accompanying parent or guardian). Recommended for nine years old and up.

3. Orchestral Manoeuvres: See Sound. Feel Sound. Be Sound
Check out a piano that plays itself and a singing choir that you can’t see! These are just some of the quirky artworks that you’ll see in Orchestral Manoeuvres. This sound-focused exhibition brings together work by 32 composers and contemporary artists from around the world, encouraging visitors to rediscover sound, and maybe even create their own composition!
Bonus: Kids aged five to nine will also receive an activity booklet before entering the exhibition. Use this booklet to go on an artwork hunt within the exhibition with the clues given.
When: Now till 2 Jan 2022, 10am-7pm

4. Spacewalkers
Now here’s something for the older kids*! Spacewalkers is a two-part virtual reality (VR) artwork that has recently been added to ArtScience Museum’s VR Gallery line-up as part of their space-themed Special Event: Beyond Earth programme. The films were created using exclusive archival footage and recordings from NASA’s Apollo missions, so you can imagine how surreal this VR experience will be! Prepare to bring the family on a virtual journey to the moon in 1st Step -– From Earth to the Moon; and beyond the Earth’s orbit in 2nd Step — From the Moon to Mars and Beyond.

5. ArtScience on Screen: Beyond Earth
Another part of the museum’s Special Event this season is a selected mix of space-themed films. Titled ArtScience on Screen: Beyond Earth, a total of nine films will be showcased at the Expression Gallery on Level 4 from now till February 2022. These include kids favourites like Wall-E; Hollywood blockbuster Arrival; and documentaries like Planetary.

Given the high foot traffic during the school holiday season, we highly recommend that you book your visits in advance. Each exhibition is priced at $12 for concession and $16 for adults (resident price); or you can get tickets for all three exhibitions at $30 for concession and $40 for adults.
