There are some seriously awesome summer camps happening this year, but did you know there’s a heap of things for kids to do at your local community clubs as well?  We’re all about making things affordable when it comes to keeping the kiddos busy during the school break, and when you have a rabble of kids to budget for, wallet-friendly  fun is key. We’ve come to the school holiday rescue with some great activity workshops, classes and programmes that are low in cost but big on adventure…

PEOPLE’S ASSOCIATION COMMUNITY CLUBS

Affordable and exciting is the name of the game when it comes to holiday workshops happening at Community Clubs (CC) all over Singapore. Fun-filled workshops, sporting activities and parent-child programmes are available for kiddos age three and up, and we’ve rounded up just a small selection of the awesome activities on offer.

Fun with Smart Electrical Circuits Workshop
Have a little one who loves tinkering, pulling apart their toys and broken (and working) electrical appliances? Kids aged five to 12 years old can head to this workshop to learn how to assemble circuits for all sorts of electronics from doorbells to FM radios, and then bring home.
When: 6 June

Chinese holiday camp
Get a head start on Chinese at this holiday camp. This three day camp for five to 12 year olds will have them playing games, singing songs and telling stories to learn Chinese the fun way.
When: 12-14 June and 19-21 June

Inline Skating Holiday Course
Kids aged six years and up who want to learn how to get around on their own two sets of wheels can pick up inline skating. This course consists of four lessons and covers safety, how to move forward, stop and turn. Bring your own skate and protective gear or rent them for $5 per session.

Cartoon Drawing for Children
Bring your own pencils, crayons, paper and art stuff for a crash course on everything you need to know to start drawing comics. Kids will learn how to draw basic faces, expressions and figures in action so they can put their stories on paper.

ACTIVESG

Reading like an A-Z of Olympic sports, ActiveSG provides a plethora of affordable programmes for kiddos age three years and up. If you’re a new ActiveSG member, you can offset 30% of the fees with your (free!) $100 ActiveSG credits. There are over 40 activities to choose from, but do note that these are only available to Singapore citizens and PR children. We especially love the look of:

Aqua Fun
Make a splash during the school hols by bringing your six to 12 year olds to an Aqua Fun session where they’ll develop water confidence and new aquatic skills while meeting new friends and having a whole lotta fun. And the best news of all? It’s free!

Dance Fitness for Kids
Small groovers age five to 12 years will love shaking their thang at dance workouts over two or three consecutive days. KpopX, Zumba, Masala Bhangra and Bokwa are what’s on the mini-movers’ menu.

Flippa Ball Holiday Camp
Confidence, team-building and the chance to try a fun new sport are what it’s all about at the Flippa Ball Holiday Camp. Kids age seven to 12 years will love this game that is actually a modified version of water polo.

Scuba Diving – Fun Scuba Intro
With Singapore being the gateway to so many stunning vacay spots around Asia, it’s never too early to get your kids interested in scuba diving. This awesome workshop introduces diving gear and basic breathing and diving skills to kids age six to 14 years old and up in a safe, structured swimming pool setting.

SAFRA

SAFRA has long been synonymous with affordable family fun here in Singapore. Here’s a small pick of what’s happening this June:

SAFRA Punggol Weekend Fun (June Edition)
Kick off the June holidays with a fun-filled family learning session at SAFRA Punggol. Kids will get to explore a range of activities in the Literacy zone, Arts zone, Science zone and Gourmet zone, take part in workshops and enter a storytelling competition. Take a break to watch a stage performance or two, explore the tropical forest decor or bounce on an inflatable dragon playground. There’s even free-flow carnival food like ice pops and grilled meatballs to keep those little tummies full!

Kids Baking Workshops
Want to know what the kids are capable of whipping up in the kitchen? This summer you can look forward to a delicious chocolate cake made in one bowl, sweet potato cupcake, or lime madeleine made during themed cooking sessions to keep the kids interested. Our tummies are growling already!

June Holiday Workshops
Fill up your holiday schedule with cool workshops happening at SAFRA Yishun. Go on a craft playdate to build your own aquarium, make your own glitter candles, snow skin mooncakes, and even an exploding volcano, the possibilities are endless!

Drone DIY Fun Workshop (For Kids)
Suitable for kids aged seven to 12 years old, kids will learn how to construct and fly their own drone without creating a mess in the house. As a bonus, they will be allowed to bring back the drone after the workshop.

First Aid (For Kids and Parents)
SAFRA has organised two mega useful first aid courses. Zoom Camp
This is your all-in-one active camp of the holidays. From scaling the walls at Clip ‘n Climb to laser tag and the indoor playground at T-Play, kids aged six to 12 years will be able to run, jump and climb until they are worn out and ready to go home to crash.
