10 things to do with the kids this weekend in Singapore: 8-9 June 2019

Need a break from your break? Here's your weekend of fun lined up...

Now that June holidays have arrived and Ramadan is over, we’re getting into all the summer fun with museum exhibits and fun activities happening all across Singapore. Sure the rain may put a damper on things sometimes but that’s not going to stop us from having a great family weekend out! This weekend we’re looking forward to character live shows, musical performances and delicious food…

1. Relax at an indoor beach

Rainy day keeping you from the beach? Head to Bugis Junction x Bugis+ for an indoor beach party in the city. Complete with a sand-filled lounge, palm trees, cabanas, food, drinks and an outdoor cinema, the kids will get to play in velvet-soft sand while you take a break from shopping on one of the cabana sunbeds. Sunglasses and mum reads optional!

2. Swing by Changi Airport

One of our fave fam-friendly haunts, Changi Airport, is hosting a very special guest all the way from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s right, Spider-Man will be presenting a web-slingin’ good time with an action-packed adventure playground and obstacle course, meet and greets, and a whole Europe-based exhibition inspired by the film for fans of all ages. And when you’re done, why not head over to Jewel Changi for more bouncy fun at the brand new Canopy Park

3. Zoom into action with Super Wings

Gear up with the heroes from the action-packed preschool series, Super Wings. Catch the live show on weekends featuring Jett and his friends, Dizzy, Donnie and Jerome, meet your heroes in person at a tea party, or glide along with the characters in the Super Wings Parade on Saturdays. Plus, there’s an indoor playground with minimum spend.

4. Attend sustainable workshops in IKEA

IKEA is an easy family winner for its showrooms, kids play area and of course, Swedish meatballs. This June holidays, IKEA is adding sustainable craft workshops into the mix to keep the kids busy. They’ll get to make their very own bag tag, scrap fabric necklace or clothes peg while you finally get to pick out a new rug or curtain for the house.

5. Music by Mozart for kids

Enjoy Mozart performed by internationally acclaimed chamber musicians in The Mozart 36 by Tang Tee Khoon Grand Series. These specially designed Concerts for Children will keep the kiddos age up to 12 years engaged in the music with bubbles, feathers, balloons, and streamers. Whether you believe Mozart really makes your babies smarter or not, it’ll be a good time for all.

6. First ever Paw Patrol Ultimate Rescue Training live show

Catch Ryder and his pups while they em-bark on an exciting fire rescue training this weekend! Join forces with the PAW Patrol recruits to solve problems and help them save the day. Stick around for the meet and greet session after the show to meet all the pups.
When: 8 – 23 June 2019 (except Mondays), Tue – Fri: 2pm and 7pm, Sat & Sun: 1pm, 4pm and 7pm

7. Feast under the stars

Singapore Cable Car is celebrating its 45th Anniversary with satay under the stars. Enjoy a Singapore-style barbeque featuring a variety of satay, local favourites and cold seafood alongside a line-up of live musical performances. There’ll be an indoor bouncy ball pool just for the kids while grown-ups will get to take part in games on the history of Singapore Cable Car, with a chance to win fab prizes.
When: 8 June, 6-10pm

8. Experience a summer Matsuri in Singapore

Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) is bringing us a slice of the iconic Furusato Matsuri, an annual Japanese festival held in Tokyo to Singapore. Hop on a cable car or car to check out eats including award-winning donburi, grilled seafood and chilled sake, as well as activities such as free movie screenings and live performances like the Koenji Awa-Odori Dance and Akita Kanto which uses “pole lanterns”.
When: 6 – 9 June, 5pm – 11pm

9. Greet the sun with a yoga session in the park

Bring your yoga mat, mosquito repellent and water bottles for a relaxing yoga sesh among greenery and wildflowers. The little ones can cool off after at the free water playground.

10. Celebrate the Peranakan Festival with a cooking workshop

Thinking about adding a new dish to your repertoire? Learn how to make Peranakan dessert rice pancake, Apom Bokwa, and celebrate the rich heritage of this 500 year old ethnic group. The class comes with a hot drink and kueh, as well as a recipe card at the end.
