10 things to do with the kids this weekend in Singapore: 22-23 June 2019

This weekend is filled with all sorts of fam-friendly events, from an exhilarating ballet, a music carnival, storytelling galore and a pink harvest...

1. Have a Play-full afternoon at Goodman Arts Centre

Goodman Arts Centre is throwing open its doors once again for Goodman Open House where kids get to groove, dance and have a play-full day out. Participate in music and movement performances, get hands-on in craft workshops, and get a behind the scenes look into the art-making process during the studio visits. There will also be a mini food and art marketplace to keep you fuelled with creative juices.

2. Catch INALA – a Zulu Ballet

Featuring three-time Grammy Award-winning choral legends, the Soweto Gospel Choir, performed by world-class dancers and Singaporean dancer Adelene Stanley, catch this exhilarating fusion of South African and Western cultures. 3. Dream and Do-do-do… and party this weekend!

Let your dreams take flight at this awesome party facilitated by inclusive arts movement Superhero Me. Kids of all abilities are invited to explore their dreams through music performances, art jams and craft activities led by differently abled youths.

4. Dance your way into the weekend

We’re always up for a carnival and the WHABBY! Music Carnival is just the ticket! 5. Dive into a world of stories at StoryFest

Ditch the devices and immerse yourself in stories at StoryFest. Head to The Arts House where kids will have Room to Read at read aloud book sessions, storytelling sessions, fold their favourite characters using origami techniques and make art that responds to their personal stories. Bond with your kids in a digitally detoxed area and enjoy performances for families like The Storyteller’s Fire, Jungle Adventures and This Tale, That Tail!

6. Head to the Hari Raya Open House

Celebrate Hari Raya at the National Museum with a line-up of exciting programmes for the whole fam! Enjoy live performances, drop-in crafts, and learn about the traditions and customs behind Hari Raya.

7. Cook in pink

The Pink Fest celebrations continue with the Pink Harvest Cookout at Bollywood Veggies on 22 June, 10am – 1pm. Have a meal with your LGBT+ fam and allies at a farm-to-table cookout session in the Kranji countryside! You’ll get a farm tour and a chance to forage for pink rojak flowers before learning how to cook delicious and healthy farm to table dishes. Or pick up groceries for your weekly shop on 23 June, 10am – 4pm at Rainbow Farmers’ Market while the kids get to enjoy wholesome nature and farm-based activities.

8. See how people interact with light in this performance

Tiny Feat, the team behind Annie Ting and the Dragon are putting on yet another fab show, BEAM! This interactive performance is suitable for children age two to four years old. Follow a girl and a light beam on an adventure that will allow kids to see how light and people interact and appreciate beauty in the little things. Kids will even get to create their own mobile light kit after the show!

9. Meet the ponies at Singapore Polo Club

Bring your family and friends to see the horses and ponies at the 3rd Friends of Horses Fair. There will be activities like gymkhana, pony rides, pony feeding and photography sessions, sand art and face painting.

10. Get crafty
