Listen, up parents: Uber Car Seat service has arrived in Singapore, and is about to change everything for families with young children. If you don’t own a car (hands up over here!) and have a toddler, you know this struggle well: when using taxis, Uber and Grab, safety for your child is a non-negotiable, but what do you do when they’re too big for the infant car seat and too small for super-portable RideSafer Vest or Mifold? How do you travel safely in taxis, Uber and Grab cars without having to lug around a car seat?
Hallelujah, the problem of tricky toddlers has been solved: Uber Car Seat hits the road on 15 June with 100 cars to start, each equipped with one IMMI Go Car Seat: a world-class, super safe five-point harness seat for kids age one to 10 years.
Car safety expert Elise Mawson of Taxi Baby – a mum herself, has been working closely with Uber for the last year to help bring this service to families in Singapore. Drivers undergo serious training with her to ensure they can install and adjust the seat properly, and work with a safety-first attitude.
What else do you need to know?
- The Uber Car Seat service is $5 to book through your regular Uber app– a no-brainer when it comes to your child’s safety.
- The driver will install and adjust the seat for you – installation can be done in a minute! (Ever scrambled to set up a booster seat while your cab driver tears out of the driveway? Not gonna happen with a trained Uber Car Seat driver.)
- And don’t forget, it’s the law for children under35m tall to travel in a private car without a booster seat or a child restraint.
