What’s On This Week: 7 – 13 October 2013
Parents, it’s the calm before the storm of Halloween festivities at the end of the month, and we still have plenty of activities to keep the littlies entertained! Plan ahead for Halloween – we have 5 tickets to give away for Port of Lost Wonder’s Spooky Jr. celebration on October 25th & 26th! All you have to do is comment on this post for your chance to win!
Catch the closing weekend of Archifest 2013! Sign the kids up for the Open Sesame (12 Oct) workshop, a portal to a new world of design and physics! After this workshop, head down to the Urban Picnic – stroll the Experience Market and be entertained by fabulous music and talks.
Want something sweet? Head down to Ben & Jerry’s Chunk Fest (12 Oct) and try all 18 euphoric flavours, with 13 exclusive ones flown in from the U.S! Other activities include a screening of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory under the stars and the Vermonster Challenge.
Something that will make you (and the munchkins) feel better this weekend than would be helping the less fortunate. The Children for Children (12 Oct) carnival by the Little House (Montessori) will have a large bouncy castle, balloon sculpting, and loads of food! All proceeds of this fête will go to the Children’s Cancer Foundation.
In conjunction with the Global Cardboard Challenge, a one-day cardboard play festival will be held at the National Library Building! The highlight of Voyage of Dreams (13 Oct) is the family cardboard games playdate – create a game out of cardboard or other recycled materials with the littlies, and bring it on down to share with others!
If you’re still in the mood for Shakespeare after The Taming of the Shrew (2-13 Oct), which was fantastic by the way, get your tickets to The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged) (1-13 Oct)! This is probably the most value-for-money (and the funniest) Shakespearean production ever – all 37 worked will play out in 97 minutes!
While you’re having fun with the tots, don’t forget to make a date with Playful Elves’ Halloween Party or the Port of Lost Wonder’s Spooky Jr. for Halloween – we know you love those early bird discounts! If these two parties don’t tickle your fancy, we have a whole list of ‘em here. The kids will be spoilt for choice!
Christmas is coming, or so we’re reminded by all of the holiday trees sprouting up around town lately. Don’t you think it’s time to start cracking on your Christmas lists? Beef up on ideas with Amazon’s GlobalSaver Shipping, or shop for videogames (without the blood and guts, for sure!) right here on the Island.
