The long Hari Raya Haji weekend is here and we’ve got 10 stupendous things to do in Singapore with the kids lined up! Head over to the Tampines ‘hood to fly kites, join a dazzling street party in Little India, or lay back under the stars at Fort Canning for a ballet extravaganza (expect demands for dance classes immediately after!). There’s so much to choose from we don’t know where to start…
1. Feel the force: at Ion Orchard!
Lightsabers at the ready! Keep your young Padawans busy with a Jedi training event, hang out with a virtual reality BB-8 and test your galactic knowledge at a heap of Star Wars themed activities happening at the Star Wars: Experience the Force Singapore event at ION Orchard. We’re not sure if it’s the kids or their dads who are going to be more excited about these galactic goings-on…

2. Race over to the cinema for the Disney movie of the year
Ahead of the upcoming Singapore F1, the race that all kids (and a fair few adults) have been waiting for is finally here: Speed over to your nearest cinema to catch Mater, Lightning et al in Disney’s Cars 3.

3. Fly over to Tampines Hub for a family-friendly Fiesta
Up, up and away is the name of the game over at Tampines Hub this weekend, where you’ll find fun for the whole family at a Kite Fiesta! Join ACT 3 International as they present kite flying fun including indoor kite flying performances, kite making workshops and a ton of other aerial activities: the sky’s the limit!

4. Try out origami!
Once you’re done with all that kite fun, pick up a new arts ‘n’ craft skill at a drop-in origami workshop. The session promises to teach kids and grown-ups how to make an origami model in just ten minutes!

5. Encourage the kids to become Master Builders
You don’t have to be a LEGO fan to love this awesome exhibit. The Piece of Peace fun will take you on a round-the-world tour without having to remember your passport! Check out 32 mini-replicas of UNESCO World Heritage sites: all made from LEGO! Perfect for kids aged four and older who have aspirations of becoming a future Master Builder… Be quick though: it’s packing up and moving on soon!

6. Doodle your way to victory in a fam-friendly competition
Join a friendly, creative competition with the kids, grab some free chalk from any of the Parkland Green outlets and then get your doodle on! Families decorating the pavements with the most originality and creativity stand to win a Hvper Sport Scooter and Tag Team Voucher. Ready, steady… chalk!

7. Introduce the kids to classical ballet
Ballet Under the Stars is returning for its 22nd edition, wowing audiences with breathtaking performances by Singapore Dance Theatre. Perfect for older kids, date night or as an intro to classical ballet for keen wannabe dancers, the long weekend event features ‘Sticks and Stones’ by Kinsun Chan, ‘Age of Innocence’ by Edwaard Liang, and ‘Organ Concerto’ by Nils Christe. 9. Battle an evil shark army…

10. Bring the kids for a musical mime extravaganza
Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf? Small ears will love the wolfy long ears of everyone’s favourite fairy tale villain in a classical music adaptation of Peter and the Wolf. Performed by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and reenacted by acclaimed mime artists from Magic Circle Mime, we think this is the perfect op to introduce kids aged four and up to the world of classical music.
