Meet Fearless Frosty
Crowdfunding campaigns have earned a bit of a dirty rep for idealistic wonder gadgets that don’t deliver on their word, but here’s a feel good, do good campaign that’s set on changing the world. Without a doubt – it’s a cause everyone (and their mum) will want to back.
You may already be familiar with SisuGirls and their ballsy take on gender bias in our society. Through sports and adventure, this local organisation helps to build girls’ self-confidence so they’re able to live to their highest potential – whether they want to climb mountains, become a pro soccer player, or even run for President. SisuGirls teaches these girls that they can be anyone they want to be, and that’s exactly the message they’re taking to the (crowdfunding) streets.
In addition to offering their climbing, running and skating courses for young girls, SisuGirls wants to launch SisuGirls Series, a collection of children’s books about real fearless females around the world. To kickstart the series, SisuGirls needs help raising funds for their first book, Fearless Frosty, which follows the story of 33-year-old professional mountain runner Anna Frost.
Growing up as a young girl in New Zealand, Frosty dreams of playing sports for a living – to the discouragement of the people around her. Determined to prove that girls can excel at sports, Frosty embarks on a journey of hard work, tough training, and the ultimate reward – achieving her lifelong dream of running mountain trails for a living. The fully illustrated book is a hit with kids – its been road-tested with tough 5-year-old critics – but the strong message easily strikes a chord with us adults.
As women, we’re not down with society telling us we can’t do or say certain things because we’re female. If you’re on of us too, then back this book for the greater good. You can sponsor a class, a whole school, or even send a box of Fearless Frosty to a charitable organisation.
We’re betting our bottom dollar on this one. Support the campaign here.
Fearless Frosty is suitable for children aged 3+.
