How does a festival of puppets, chalkboard art, mini-cardboard street playgrounds, face painting, kid’s yoga and tightrope walking sound? Why, awesome of course! Yipee for the Singapore River Festival. We’ll see you there this weekend!
We’re massive fans of hanging out and dining by the riverside with the family at kid-friendly restaurants in Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, and Robertson Quay. We’re all over the top 20 things to do with kids in Singapore, and are always on the hunt for new adventures. So, we’re excited to announce that the return of epic Singapore River Festival 2016 this weekend, 4 and 5 November! The theme this year is ‘River Connections’ and promises to be a family-friendly celebration of how the Singapore River is a central part of the culture and lifestyle of this great country. The festival is jam-packed with kid-tastic events like the Circular Spectacular street carnival with live music, the Sideshow Takeover, puppet show and interactive fringe activities. And there’s a real focus on healthy bodies and minds this year too with a raft of kid-focused fitness sessions (you’ll be thankful for that cool river breeze!). And it doesn’t get much more breathtaking than watching a tight-rope walker teetering above the river…
Circular Spectacular
Get instant feel-good vibes as you wander through the street carnival soaking in art installations and roving performances. While there’ll be loads to keep your little peeps entertained: don’t miss Sideshow Takeover where you can expect awesomeness like face-painting, chalkboard art and a mini-cardboard street playground. The kids will play happily for hours while you relax to the musical stylings of resident DJ Shellsuit.
While you’re there catch a Marionette performance by Singapore puppeteer Frankie Malachi and his crew. He’s the creative genius behind the many of the puppets and mascots you see on TV and in the theatre, so his Puppet Making Workshop is one to book in advance. You get to take home a puppet of your very own (we’re seeing pop up home-theatre performances in our future!). Register at www.tinyurl.com/CSpuppetworkshop. (limited to 30 pax per session).
