Nexus International School (Singapore) will be opening a new campus in Aljunied in 2020. Located in central Singapore, this new “vertical campus” is cleverly designed to hold the Primary School on the lower floors and the Secondary School on the upper floors. According to President of Taylor’s Schools, BK Gan, this reflects how the school’s experienced staff “personalise and tailor their lessons to each individual to ensure their particular learning levels are met”.
The middle floors will house communal areas, offering shared social and flexible work spaces for students to mingle. These include a double-storey library, language areas, sports halls, café and play-deck. The spaces will be equipped with movable acoustic panelling with the aim of accommodating different lesson plans and changing student numbers.
In the spirit of innovation, this Apple Distinguished School also plans to integrate more technology into the curriculum, including the use of mobile smart projectors and interactive touch screens. On-campus facilities will include a 50m pool, a full-sized astroturf sports field, recording studios, auditorium and fitness gym, all of which will be open to the community during after school hours and on weekends.
