High-kicks in the air: Jackie Chan is in town, folks! Yep, the pint-sized martial arts hero is heading to Plaza Singapura for a meet ‘n’ greet sesh tonight, before he’s whisked off for the global premiere of his new action-packed film, Kung Fu Yoga, at Vivo City. Here’s five of our fave Chan movies to get you in the mood for a spot of Jackie…
1. Disrespectful foreigners stealing precious artifacts gives Jackie Chan some decision making to do: respect his pacifist dad’s ‘do-nothing’ approach, or kick some butt to save the day in 1994 movie, The Legend of a Drunken Master?
2. Jackie joins forces with funny-man Chris Tucker to tackle a kidnapping and a dangerous crime lord in the hilarious Rush Hour.
3. We love that Jackie always seems to bag the hero role, and in New Police Story he shows us his grittier side as he leads his police team into a trap that leaves him as the only survivor…
4. Project A gives us a young Jackie taking on pirates in Hong Kong: expect Chinese costumes, tongue in cheek humour and plenty of music in this 1983 high-jinx movie.
5. What better movie for an all-round nice guy than Mr Nice Guy? Action, comedy and crime all rolled into one when a Chinese chef accidentally gets involved with a news reporter who needs saving from some serious baddies.
