How to make them love their veggies
As all mummies know, a healthy kid is a strong kid – and eating our greens sure does help! But we’ve all had that time in our lives when veggies were the grossest things on earth (cue scrunched-up faces and gagging sounds). It might just be a phase, but your kids probably need to stop dumping their spinach on the floor and giving your pet a tummy ache already. Give snacktime a new spin and sneak in some green leafy goodness with some kid friendly juice boosts!
Avocado adventures
Boost your littlies’ nutrient quotient with the humble avocado. Whip up a creamy blend along with other green giants like kiwi, pear, and a little sprinkling of spinach, and we guarantee that these young knights in shining armour will be able to defend their little fort from imaginary monsters all on their own!
Mango madness
Toss in mango and pineapple cubes and one or two cups of chopped kale in the blender for a deliciously tangy concoction. Kale helps to balance the super-sweetness derived from these tropical fruits, and provides a healthy dose of vitamins A, C, and K too. Serve this up in cute cocktail glasses and a little paper umbrella for that cute kiddie touch.
Carroty capers
Feisty mamas, you’ve got to try this out: a carrot-apple-lemon-ginger mix that is sure to get your little couch potatoes up and movin’. Sound a little too zesty for your liking? Then go for everyone’s favourite ABC (apple-beetroot-carrot) or an orange-carrot juice and make them slurp it all up!
Cucumber crushes
Stop your little drama queen from feigning fainting spells before going to school with a refreshing cup of watermelon and cucumber. Or welcome your kids home, despite their rumpled shirts and muddy shoes, with strawberry-cucumber juice (you can even try turning them into popsicles!).
Store-made serves
Don’t blame it on the lack of fruit in your refrigerator or your wonky juicing contraption. Get your fix from the friendly folks at Boost Juice Bar or Cedele (and maybe order a slice of their red velvet cake to go with). We’ve been spoiled silly with juicy options here on our sunny shores, so there really is no excuse not to drink healthily!
