They say birds of a feather flock together, so you’re sure to find plenty of friends at Suntec City’s ‘Flock to Shop’ event during the school holidays, which is celebrating the launch of the fun new Angry Birds movie and the Great Singapore Sale.
We need no excuse to shop. But, when we hear that a fantastic mall like Suntec City has themed things up nicely for the kids, well, we just have to oblige, don’t we? And when there’s an anger management playground thrown in, it’s a done deal. Join us as we do a flap-through of the ‘Flock to Shop’ extravaganza happening now at Suntec City in honour of the new Angry Birds movie!
Setting aside those too-lovable-to-be-truly-angry birds for a moment, Suntec City is a pretty fabulous place to do a spot of shopping on any given day. With more than 400 tenants in this slick mall, there really is something for everyone, and the dining options – more than 140 of them – are fab (have you tried the newish PasarBella yet? You must!). Importantly, there are some great play zones and attractions for kids, such as Alive Museum, Cool de Sac, and The Polliwogs, plus a cinema for when you just need to get off your feet and kick back with Red, Chuck and Bomb on the big screen!
Whether you catch the movie or not (it looks very cute, we have to say), there’s plenty of action at Suntec until 3 July to keep everyone entertained. We suspect you’ll want to kick things off with the shopping part of proceedings, especially as it’s Great Singapore Sale time. Grab yourself a Flock to Shop coupon booklet from the concierge counter and hit the carefully curated selection of retail offers (tip: make sure you hold onto your booklet for when you’re ready to indulge in a treatment at Calla Spa!). There are discounts from the likes of Lee Hwa Diamond Gallery, Giordano, The Prestige Eyebrow & Lash Specialist, and plenty more. Fancy some more shopping in one of the world’s great cities? With a minimum spend of $50, shoppers qualify for a chance to win air tickets to New York, London, Milan, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Taipei, Tokyo and Seoul, as well as shopping vouchers and up to one million Suntec Rewards points!
If you’re not lucky enough to win a prize you might find yourself in need of some anger management, and of course, you’re in the right place. Try to contain the rage and make a beeline for Bird Island. Here you’ll find grassy terrain, towering trees, sandy beaches, and – hallelujah! – the four-metre high Bouncy Mountain, where the kids can work off some steam while you de-stress by whacking some targets as hard as you possibly can. Sounds to us like the perfect family outing!
Kids will also love the opportunity to meet the stars of the whole show and have their photo taken with the adorable Red, Chuck and Bomb. They’re making guest appearances at set times until 12 June (check the Suntec website for full details, but this weekend is your last chance!). If you miss the ‘real live’ version, download the new Angry Birds Action mobile app from the App Store or Google Play, and snap a selfie with your favourite birds through a cool augmented reality experience.
Once you’ve taken your selfies, released your rage, and nabbed all the discounts you possibly can, stash your bargains in one of the three limited edition Angry Birds Movie tote bags. A new design will be released fortnightly*, so while we said we need no excuse to shop… well, just in case.
*As at 9 June 2016, the green Angry Birds Movie tote bag has been fully redeemed.
