DIY Rubber Stamp Town!
Here’s what you’ll need:
– Stamp block (we got ours from Daiso)
– Pencil
– Scalpel/knife
– Ruler
– Paper/card to print on
– Stamp pads/ink
– Lino tools (optional)
Step 1.
A bit of preparation by Mum first up: plan shapes on a piece of scrap paper. Rectangles and triangles can be rotated to create another variation. Use a pencil and ruler to mark out squares/rectangles/triangles in various sizes on your stamp block. Then use a knife to carefully cut them out. If the block is thick enough you won’t need to mount the stamp onto anything.
Step 2.
Now for the fun stuff: Have your little one lay out the paper/card for the artwork to be created on. Using no ink to start with, lay out the bottom row of houses to get a feel for placement. Play around with the shapes.
Step 3.
Once happy with the layout, let them start inking and printing. Don’t forget the doors and windows!
And it’s as simple as that. Your little one is now mayor of their own town. Well they probably rule your house at least!
Tips:
We recommend keeping a damp cloth close by to clean off each stamp between printings. Ink can transfer easily so be careful where you put your elbows and other body parts while you’re working/playing.
