Weekly Recipe Planner: Christmas
Whether you’re doing Christmas lunch or Christmas dinner, we’ve sourced the tastiest tried and tested Christmas recipes to spoil the family with.
Spice-Rubbed Ham with Apple-Maple Sauce
Take things up a notch with this spice-rubbed ham. It sounds fancy but it’s really quite simple. To make the spice, combine brown sugar, garlic and cumin in a bowl. Then, top it all off with a dipping sauce made with mustard, cider, and maple syrup. Voila! All done.
Add a refreshing twist to the traditional centrepiece of your meal by slapping on some citrus marmalade glaze on it. The seasoning is easy and bright (smoked paprika and black pepper), so the hard part is only in cooking the turkey. Quick tip: rub olive oil (or clarified butter) all over the turkey so that it browns evenly and use a thermometer!
This recipe will give you herby roasted potatoes, honeyed parsnips and orange carrots. Just a heads up: there’s a lot of boiling and roasting involved (you pretty much have to go back and forth for the layers of vegetables), so you might want to get out more pots and roasting pans for this one. We especially love the addition of rosemary and orange zest – gives these greens that added oomph!
Haricots verts (or green beans) are always a crowd-pleaser – even for the little ones. This recipe calls for lots of butter (unsalted, of course) and shallots, so you get a great green side dish with flavours that pack a punch. Plus, the inclusion of hazelnuts gives this creation added texture.
Porcini, Chestnut, and Sausage Stuffing
Need ideas for an amazing stuffing for the turkey? Pick this recipe. Porcini mushrooms, chestnut, sausage – it doesn’t get more comforting than this. Tip: sauté the ingredients the night before the actual cooking begins so that all the flavours can combine nicely.
Great for cooling off in Singapore, this ice cream pudding is definitely a must-have on your dining table. The ingredients are quite decadent (dark muscovado sugar, double cream), and you’d need to pop by the liquor store for a bottle of brandy.
