We won’t gobblefunk around with our words, we love all things BFG here at HoneyKids’ HQ, and Roald Dahl is definitely one of our favourite authors to share with our own small human beans. Ever since we were titchy little snapperwhippers ourselves, we’ve wanted to be best friends with the Big Friendly Giant. We were scared of nightmare trogglehumpers, we never fancied eating a snozzcumber, and we definitely tried to hold in our whizzpoppers at all times! And even though our own kiddos may see us as old sage and onions these days, we think that one is never too old, nor too young, to share the wonderful classic tale of the BFG. Which is why we can’t wait to start getting crafty with the kids for the upcoming BFG Dream Jar Contest, as part of the celebrations for Dahl’s 100th birthday organised by Woods in the Books and Books Ahoy!
The BFG Dream Jar Contest calls for kids to create their own vision of a BFG dream jar: the more imagination used the better when it comes to whipping up a phizzwizard of a jar! Once your jar is full of magic and dreams, pop it over to either Woods in the Books or Books Ahoy and swap it for a Golden Ticket (which will give you 20% discount on your next Roald Dahl purchase). There will be a fabulous Roald Dahl themed prize up for grabs for the best jar, and the contest runs from 18 July through to 11 September. Plenty of time to create something delumptious and hopscotchy!
Kids also have a chance to bag more goodies over at the Roald Dahl 100 Tea Party happening in honour of Dahl’s 100th birthday, and the 18 August release of the Disney movie version of the BFG. Expect a ton of fun, a heap of Roald Dahl themed activities, a lucky draw and a fab prize for the mini-human bean dressed in the best Dahl-inspired costume. The winner of the best Dream Jar will be announced at the party too. We can’t wait!
