The Affordable Art Fair is coming back to Singapore! Good news indeed for those of us who want to brighten up our walls with something a little more ‘grown-up’ than the toilet roll craft creations by our own small artists. The Affordable Art Fair is not only the place to check out emerging and established artists in the region, but also has us families covered, thanks to some great activities for the kids. Get their creative juices flowing while you browse for the perfect piece, we say. Read on for what’s hip and happening for families at The Affordable Art Fair 2017…
Creative fun for the kids with Playeum
Head over to The Children’s Art Studio, run by Playeum, where kiddos will have a heap of fun being encouraged to think outside the box. Using play-based activities based around insect specimens and other cool creatures, little thinkers and creators will have the chance to get up close with creepy crawlies and then put their artistic talents to good use with drawing, block printing and clay craft activities.
See a Bugaboo turned into a wheely cool piece of art
With the long overdue news that strollers are going to be allowed onto buses unfolded from 2 April, it’s time to celebrate our Bugaboos again without having to worry about folding a pram, a toddler and 85 bags of shopping just to get home from the supermarket. For this edition of Affordable Art Fair, Bugaboo will be featuring an exciting art project involving three artists who will be creating their signature works onto Bugaboo Bee5 stroller canopies! Can we have one, please? The awesome canopies will then be donated to one of our fave indoor play centres: Playeum, who will auction them off to raise funds for their fabulous non-profit centre.
Watch a live painting demo by Shinichi Tashiro
Friday evening is #ArtHappy evening and Japanese artist Shinichi Tashiro will be bringing his signature brand of inventive collages, humorous commentary and celebrated street art to the fair. This one is perfect if you are parenting a teen who needs a bit of engagement beyond the dark pits of their smelly bedroom.
Join an art workshop by WOWWOWOW
Artist collective WOWWOWWOW is back to host some cool art workshops. We’re all invited to help create an evolving installation titled ‘In Art Do We Trust’, which will reach its finished look by the end of the fair.
