2. Opening this weekend: HAMILTON [Advisory 16]
The Revolution is coming to Singapore! The Tony, Grammy, Olivier, and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical is coming to Singapore! HAMILTON first premiered on Broadway in August 2015 to wide critical and audience acclaim and has gone on to play seasons in London’s West End, Australia, Germany, Canada and New Zealand.
Look forward to an incredible score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway. The show takes the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and turns it into a revolutionary moment in theatre. This is a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics and education. The book, music and lyrics are by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire.

4. Istana Open House in celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Labour Day
21 April, 8.30am to 6pm
The Istana opens its gates once again! Look forward to live performances, activity and merchandise booths, food stalls and tours of the Istana grounds! Led by PSM volunteer guides, the building tour of the Istana brings participants to visit the Istana’s stately function rooms and admire the stunning architectural details of this National Monument which has welcomed royalty, presidents and other VIPs throughout its history. You can also tour the Istana’s flora and fauna! Families can enjoy multicultural dances and traditional tunes performed by students from several schools. Entry to the Istana grounds during the open house is free for Singaporeans and PRs. All other visitors will need to pay an entrance fee of $20 per adult and $10 per child (for kids four to 12 years old). Children under four may enter for free! Tours come at a separate charge of $4 for Singaporeans and permanent residents, and up to $20 for all other visitors, depending on their age. Find out more here!
5. Magic and mayhem at CQ Street Fest
We’re so excited for 5 days of fun at Clarke Quay this April in celebration of CQ Street Fest! This fam-friendly street festival will feature world renowned performance artists at Clarke Quay’s Fountain Square, which will be transformed into a mesmerising circus extravaganza. Prepare to be swept away into a world of escapology, acrobatics, music, and mastery!

6. Celebrate Earth Day with clothes swaps, sustainability markets and a beach clean up this weekend
Earth Day is this Monday, 22 April 2024, and there are loads of fun green initiatives happening around Singapore to celebrate! Join our friends at Nimbu Kids for the Swap Shop at Tang Plaza, and bring along your pre-loved items to trade in for vouchers. 7. Science Centre Singapore – DNA Lab Open House to celebrate DNA Day
Mini scientists in the making need to visit the Science Centre Singapore this month! It’s DNA Day on 25 April, commemorating the discovery of the double helix structure. Celebrate at the DNA Lab with fun-filled activities and a mini-carnival. Learn how to extract DNA, try gel micropipetting, get an airbrush tattoo or try your hand at wire-art. Admission is free for Science Centre guests, with some paid activities.

8. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in Concert [PG13]
Experience the sixth part of the Harry Potter film series with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in Concert! The Metropolitan Festival Orchestra will perform Nicholas Hooper’s incredible score live while the entire film plays in high-definition on a 40-foot screen. As a recap for those who don’t remember, in this episode, Lord Voldemort tightens his grip on both the Muggle and Wizarding Worlds. While Dumbledore and Harry prepare for battle, romance blossoms for Ron and Hermione. Love is in the air, but danger lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again. 9. Singapore Maritime Week – explore exhibitions, a light house walk, or take the kids fishing on a yacht!
It’s Singapore Maritime Week, and there are lots of fun boating-related activities happening for the family. Our pick is the Raffles Lighthouse tour, however if you missed out on tickets for this, you can always pay a visit to the sites on your own! We recommend heading to the Singapore Maritime Gallery to learn about Singapore’s links to the sea, and how it impacts our daily lives. To put the theory into practice, why not book a fishing trip with the kiddos – My Fishing Frenzy Academy has spots available for this weekend. You can also check out Get Hooked, and visit Pulau Ubin from the water as well as visit Smith Marine Floating Restaurant.
10. Little dino-lovers won’t want to miss ROAR! Dinosaur Adventure Park 2.0
We love hunting for dinosaurs in Singapore! This month, Let’s Play at Marina Square is being transformed once again, this time into ROAR! Dinosaur Park 2.0! Have you ever wanted to meet Dinosaurs in real life? Walk into an awesome world that draws you back to the sights and sounds of the Jurassic age with life-size, full-scale, animatronic dinosaurs! We’re so excited to see the range of dinosaur themed attractions. PlayStation games, ride-on adventure cars and dinosaur rides, a ball pit, and dino inflatables are all on the list. Little budding paleontologists can even dig up dinosaur fossils in the sand pit and explore the dinosaurs in the forest!

11. We recommend for teens and adults only: Little Shop of Horrors [MATURE ADVISORY]
We’re in a time-warp! Guess which musical is set to hit the stage this April: Little Shop of Horrors! This smash-hit horror / comedy / rock musical has been shocking audiences around the world for over thirty years, and now it’s Singapore’s turn. The story follows a meek floral assistant called Seymour who stumbles across a peculiar plant. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivorous plant makes a deal with Seymour. Fame and fortune in exchange for a rather unconventional diet of, wait for it.. human blood! As the plant’s appetite grows, so does the chaos!

12. LAST CHANCE: Sakura: Blossom into the Night at Gardens by the Bay [CLOSES 21 April]
Want to immerse yourself in Japan, without a plane ride? Pay a visit to Gardens by the Bay, and experience Japanese culture with a selection of performances and demonstrations happening in partnership with the Japan Creative Centre (JCC). From tea ceremonies to Japanese dance and martial arts displays, the highlight of this event is the crowd favourite floral display, Sakura: blossom into the night. Make a wish upon the 1,000 paper cranes hanging from the ceiling, see the Torii traditional Japanese gate, and make sure you visit at night to see the whimsical light projections, creating a dazzling display under the darkened sky – check out what went down when we visited on opening day!

13. Singapore Cable Cars: Be one of the first to ride in a SkyOrb
The bravest families will love this one! With a see-through glass floor, we can’t wait to take a ride in the SkyOrb, the world’s first chrome-finished spherical cabin on the Singapore Cable Car! Tickets start from just $15, as an upgrade to a standard ticket. And it’s a great time to ride, as this is your last chance to see the Pokémon cable cars, that are set to disappear after 30 April!
14. Date Night: Tartuffe: The Imposter [R18]
True to its mission of reimagining the world’s classics for today’s Singapore, Wild Rice Theatre is now taking on French playwright Molière’s satirical masterpiece, Tartuffe: The Imposter. This is set to be ‘a startlingly modern, darkly comic adaptation’, and we can’t wait to see it! This is the story of a wealthy family that starts to unravel when the head of the household, Orgon, befriends Tartuffe. This charming, seductive con artist masquerades as a man of faith. Everyone else smells a rat, even as Tartuffe works his way into Orgon’s home, heart and bank account! What will it take for Orgon to finally see the light?

15. Azaleas of Shangri La: Cloud Forest exhibition opening at Gardens by the Bay
The Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay is being transformed into a wonderland of azaleas! Did you know that ‘Shangri-La’ is a mythical utopia described in the fantasy novel ‘Lost Horizon’? This display takes inspiration from this magical place, and transports visitors into an enchanting paradise set against the backdrop of the Himalayas. Discover over 15 varieties of azaleas in beautiful bright colours, as well as a collection of traditional medicinal herbs set amongst vibrant Himalayan architecture and artefacts.

16. Harry Potter-mania is taking over Singapore with FREE screenings of the Harry Potter film series
Sentosa is in full Harry Potter mode, with the announcement of a brand new exhibition coming to Resorts World Sentosa this year! 17. ‘Naruto The Gallery’ exhibition at Universal Studios Singapore

Visitors to Universal Studios Singapore who are fans of the Naruto anime series will want to make sure to explore this brand new exhibition located at Soundstage 28. Naruto: The Gallery will showcase six areas delving into the world of manga artist Masashi Kishimoto. Discover the evolution of the Naruto series, with dioramas of iconic scenes, photo displays and character profiles. There’s also limited edition exclusive merchandise, a fun photo booth, and even a pop up Naruto: The Gallery Cafe with a specially designed menu of dishes from the anime series!
18. NEW: Tropical Play Forest at Changi Airport

Singapore is possibly the only country where we’d want to hang out at the airport, even if we’re not catching a plane. Now, you can yet another reason to why Changi is the best airport in the world, with the opening of the Tropical Play Forest at the Terminal 3 Departure Hall! Kiddos will love climbing, bouncing and swinging their way around like the true little monkeys they are. Don’t forget to get creative at the Basement 2 photo spots. If you visit the Candy Carnival at the T3 Arrival Hall, you’ll have a chance to win fun prizes.

19. Be immersed in the Sentosa Sensoryscape
Need to escape the hustle and bustle? There’s a new sensory sanctuary on Sentosa, and we can’t wait to explore. Unwind and relax to the sound of trickling water among the Symphony Streams. Enjoy rich scents of herbs and spices at the Scented Sphere, and take in panoramic views from the Lookout Loop. Make sure you visit at night time to be immersed in the Glow Garden, a fusion of art, nature and technology featuring stunning light displays. There are six different areas to explore in total, each igniting a different sense. Best bit: It’s completely FREE!
20. Snow City transforms into a coloured ice playground
Love to get the kids running around at a playground, but hate the suffocating heat of being outdoors? Snow City has the answer, with Singapore’s largest dyed ice gallery, the Coloured Ice Playground. Recognised by the Singapore Book of Records, snap pics with ice sculptures, try your hand at mini golf on ice, and check out the ice slide. All of this has been created by famed Singaporean artist, Jeffrey Ng. The whole playground took 499 hours of painstaking craftsmanship to create, so it’s well worth a look! Tickets from $25 for two hours of playtime.

21. The Artground reopens with M.A.P (Many Alternative Possibilities), a new transport-themed play space!
Opening 21 April 2024
Explore the various possibilities of transportation with The Artground‘s newest installation, M.A.P (Many Alternative Possibilities)! After successful runs of its ‘Masak-Masak’ and ‘Clean Up, Or Else’ editions, the inclusive indoor playground is back with a new theme. M.A.P was created in collaboration with the students of Pathlight School, who showcase their love for transportation and inventive ideas into the play space. Look forward to their version of the uniquely Singaporean ERP gantry, go down slides with other MRT ‘passengers’, build your own vehicle and spot your neighbourhood on the MRT map!

22. Tickets now on sale for the Frida Kahlo immersive exhibition

Frida Kahlo was undoubtedly one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, and this immersive biographical exhibition is a celebration of her life and work. Frida Kahlo: The Life of An Icon is set to hit our shores in May 2024 at the ArtScience Museum. Explore the life and work of this iconic Mexican artist, who was widely recognised for her vibrant self-portraits. While we highly recommend this for fans of the artist, kids will appreciate the captivating visuals too – what’s not to love?
Best bit: Kids under two years old enter free! Exhibition begins 4 May 2024, and tickets go on sale from 17 April 2024.
23. Tulipmania returns to the Gardens by the Bay Flower Dome
We can’t wait to see the visual splendour that is Tulipmania! It’s one of our favourite flower exhibitions at Gardens by the Bay, returning for it’s 10th edition. Evoking the charm of iconic tulip farms in the Netherlands, where tulips are uniformly planted in rows of singular colour, this year’s floral display blends tradition and modernity. Expect to see quintessential elements of the traditional Dutch landscape such as the windmill and watermill set against modern features that showcase technological advancements in urban farming and clean energy. Love this!
